St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church will respond to the Red Cross call for blood donations. In the United States, the Red Cross is responsible for about 40 percent of the blood supply. However, roughly 37,000 fewer donors gave during November and December, the agency said. Along with the hectic holiday season, severe weather hampered donations and forced blood drives to be cancelled.
What’s needed now: About 14,000 blood and platelet donations a day to meet the needs of about 2,600 hospitals and transfusion centers.
St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church wants to help, and we will be inviting other community organizations to join us on Saturday, March 25 at St. Andrew’s, 1601 Mary Dr., Pleasant Hill. In less than an hour you can save someone’s life, possibly someone in Northern California as our local blood blanks mostly meet and fill local demand for blood. CLICK HERE to sign up to donate
