This Sunday we enter the season of Advent once again, a time of preparing ourselves to celebrate the birth of Christ, whom we call the Prince of Peace, into our world. Many are struggling with what they should say and do given the current turmoil in our nation and world. There are no easy answers. But I believe that praying and living out the prayer of St Francis is a powerful means of personal and social transformation. If we begin with this kind of honest, searching prayer, the answers will come. So for the next twelve weeks, using the prayer of St Francis and Scripture as our guides, we will be reflecting on what it means for us to live God’s peace in a world which desperately needs it. Friends, by God’s grace we need to be the peace we yearn for! “Lord, make us instruments of your peace!”
