Beware – Cyberattacks

CyberattacksYou may have heard about the recent cyberattacks that hit the Oakley and Pleasant Hill city governments (https://abc7news.com/cyberattack-ransomware-attack-oakley-pleasant-hill/14471071/).

To help keep your personal data and keep you safe online, here are some cybersecurity best practices provided by the new Microsoft Copilot Artificial Intelligence chat bot (https://copilot.microsoft.com):

1. Use Strong Passwords and a Password Manager:
• Create unique, complex passwords for each account.
• Combine lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
• Consider using a password manager to securely store and manage your passwords.

2. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), such as text message authentication
• Adds an extra layer of security by using 2FA wherever possible.
• This ensures that even if someone guesses your password, they can’t access your account without the second verification step.

3. Double-Check Links Before Clicking:
• Be cautious when clicking on links in emails, messages, or websites.
• Verify the legitimacy of the link before opening it to avoid phishing scams.

4. Don’t Store Sensitive Information on Your Phone:
• Avoid saving sensitive data like passwords, credit card details, or personal identification information (PII) on your phone.
• Always use a passcode lock to protect your device.

5. Keep Apps and Devices Up-to-Date:
• Regularly update your operating system, applications, and security software.
• Patches and updates often fix vulnerabilities that hackers can exploit.

Co-host congregations:  Martinez 1st Congregational Church, Concord 1st Presbyterian Church, Lafayette Christian Church, St Demetrious Greek Orthodox Church.

Many volunteers are needed for the program be a success for all.  It is a win-win for the families and all of us at St Andrew’s.

We have been hosting since 2012 and have always had an outpouring of wonderful volunteers including St Andrew’s members and friends, neighbors, Boy Scouts, etc.

Please sign up to help with the following activities: set up and take down crew, meals, activities for kids,  daily clean up, laundry (sheets and towels), tutoring and reading to kids.

SPRING FUNDRAISER CONCERT June 2 at 3 PM!

Spring Fund Raiser

Come join us for an afternoon of great music and great fun! Come help us raise money for our Joint Christmas Concert with Concord First Presbyterian Church (CFPC) on December 1st, 2024.

Last year, St. Andrew’s and CFPC came together and performed a wonderful Christmas Concert at CFPC. The event was so well attended and well received that we have agreed to join forces once again and perform a Joint Christmas Concert at St. Andrew’s this year. In order to make this a special event, we will need to raise funds to pay for professional musicians and singers. With your help, we hope to raise a total of $3,000 by the end of November 2024.

Please come out and support St. Andrew’s on April 7th at 3 pm in the Sanctuary for our Spring Fundraising Concert. The concert will feature Veronica Fealy, Emily Rae Fealy, Susan McMillan, David Chavez, and Mark McMillan, performing a wide array of musical genres ranging from classical, oldies, to one or two Carpenter’s songs.

Hope to see you all on Sunday June 2nd at 3 pm.

A Word from the Coffee Committee

CoffeeHi Folks! The freezer is getting low on cookies, although we do seem to have some bags of Oreos and Oreo-type cookies. Donations can be left in the kitchen or even put in the freezer. We appreciate everyone’s help keeping our coffee hour sweet! — The Coffee Committee.
