Beware – Cyberattacks

CyberattacksYou may have heard about the recent cyberattacks that hit the Oakley and Pleasant Hill city governments (

To help keep your personal data and keep you safe online, here are some cybersecurity best practices provided by the new Microsoft Copilot Artificial Intelligence chat bot (

1. Use Strong Passwords and a Password Manager:
• Create unique, complex passwords for each account.
• Combine lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
• Consider using a password manager to securely store and manage your passwords.

2. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), such as text message authentication
• Adds an extra layer of security by using 2FA wherever possible.
• This ensures that even if someone guesses your password, they can’t access your account without the second verification step.

3. Double-Check Links Before Clicking:
• Be cautious when clicking on links in emails, messages, or websites.
• Verify the legitimacy of the link before opening it to avoid phishing scams.

4. Don’t Store Sensitive Information on Your Phone:
• Avoid saving sensitive data like passwords, credit card details, or personal identification information (PII) on your phone.
• Always use a passcode lock to protect your device.

5. Keep Apps and Devices Up-to-Date:
• Regularly update your operating system, applications, and security software.
• Patches and updates often fix vulnerabilities that hackers can exploit.

SIGN-UP in the Celebration Center

Christmas is Coming

Christmas in July on Sunday the 14th in the Celebration Center.

Kay’s rushing the season with red and green table decorations and XMAS STOCKINGS, but there’s a method to her madness.

On July 14 only, you’ll find Xmas stockings in the Celebration Center. Stuff them with your financial donations (cash or check-memo line backpacks) so that HOPE SOLUTIONS can stuff backpacks with school supplies for students this fall. July 14 is the deadline, but you don’t need to wait until then. The Xmas stockings and decorations are a reminder that generosity and thoughtfulness are not restricted to December. Thank you for your support.  CIW

A Word from the Coffee Committee

CoffeeHi Folks! The freezer is getting low on cookies, although we do seem to have some bags of Oreos and Oreo-type cookies. Donations can be left in the kitchen or even put in the freezer. We appreciate everyone’s help keeping our coffee hour sweet! — The Coffee Committee.

Hillcrest Food Pantry

Food Pantry NeedsDonations are welcome again. Every Sunday, you may place food items in the box outside the Sanctuary. For the next month, the pantry would be delighted to have: Chicken Noodle Soup, Cream of Chicken Soup, Cream of Mushroom Soup and cans of Chili Beans; the Food Bank where they shop is out. Cereal is always needed.
