FATHER FORGIVE THEM

FATHER FORGIVE THEM

Luke 23:33 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

“They do not  know what they are doing” said Jesus.  He said this, I think, not only of those who physically executed him, but also of the leaders and the crowd that demanded his death. How about those countless others down through the ages, those whose hearts, souls, minds or strength were then, or as many today are, too torn, broken, weakened, scarred, distracted, or poisoned to recognize God’s love in Christ, and then allow themselves to be embraced by his love?  Yes, them too I think. That’s the kind of God we have. “Father, forgive them.”   Pastor Bill
