1 Samuel 12: 23 Moreover as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you…

Samuel was a wise leader of Israel who was gray and aging, past his prime. The people wanted a different kind of leader – one like the other nations round about – a king. Samuel knew that wasn’t what God wanted for them but was unable to convince them of God’s way. So Samuel retired and gave them a king. When young’uns and their own kids leave the nest and set their own course in life, even in directions we may see as mistaken, there’s not much we can directly do – but what we can do, and need to do, and by the power of God’s spirit can do with power, is pray for our children, and theirs too – day by day.  Pastor Bill
