Isaiah 19:23 – Spiritual Unity

Isaiah 19:23 On that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian will come into Egypt and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians will serve with the Assyrians. 24 On that day Israel will be the third party with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth, 25 whom the Lord of hosts has blessed, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people and Assyria the work of my hands and Israel my heritage.”

The old Assyrian Empire included Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, northern Iran, Armenia, and even Cyprus. “On that day”, yet in the future of course, this whole middle east area will be blessed together with Egypt and Israel. Wow! During the later days of the Ottoman empire, 14th century thru WWI into 1922, there was a railroad that tied that geography together. And, interestingly, the modern Hebrew word for “highway” is the same word used for railroad. If that commercial/secular unity via railroad occurred in the lifetimes of our recent ancestors, perhaps a spiritual unity, or at least a spiritual peace, is not so farfetched, or, so far off. That’s a bold prayer direction to adopt for our day,

Pastor Bill
