John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

So familiar, and so evocative of Genesis 1:1 which seems John’s clear intent in helping us understand the significance of Jesus. Years ago there was a popular Christian book entitled Your God is Too Small. The key idea behind it was how we so greatly underestimate God, God’s love, God’s power and God’s awesomeness. In the case of John 1:1, using the the word “word” to translate logos from the Greek as a description of Jesus risks underestimating Him, the Savior, the Son. But logos is a GREAT BIG WORD. Logic comes from logos – it’s more than just a word, it’s a concept, it’s the very creative, organizing, true, just and harmonious principle underlying all creation and embodying all that’s right and good and peaceable. The four verses that follow John 1:1 help clarify just HOW BIG that word logos really is. Look them up in your bible or click below to read them. That’s our Christ, Jesus, the anointed one, worth seeking and following with all our hearts, souls, minds and strength.   Pastor Bill
