Psalm 19:12 –13 But who can detect their errors? Clear me from hidden faults. Keep back your servant also from the insolent; do not let them have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression.

Those first two short sentences seem to suggest that the palmist is free, or presumes freedom, of major continuing character flaws. But that same psalmist knows, also presumably from previous experience, that just like all of us, we are freighted with bundles of habits, viewpoints, attitudes and behavior patterns that miss the mark of God’s best for us and our world. And, though we’re aware at some of those misses at some level, we too like the psalmist, might ask God’s help to see some of those of which we’re still clueless. Maybe start by repeating and praying the first two sentences of this morning’s scripture. (but also, don’t ignore the other two)
