Sin of Perfectionism

Rev. Dr. Diana Cheifetz-

As [Jesus] was setting out on a journey, a man ran up and knelt before him, and asked, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”…..Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said, “You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”   Mark 10:17,21

As we consider the Sin of Perfectionism this Second Sunday in Lent, in what ways do you identify with this good and decent man?  What are the standards of working, living, and caring in which you take legitimate satisfaction and pride?  And where do your own expectations – of yourself, of Jesus, and of others – trip you up in life, in relationships, and in the church?
