Spirit of Generosity

Spirit of Generosity

Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

Debts and debtors? The currency kind of debts/debtors of God’s reign is not primarily what’s in view here but ir’s included.  Dollars, pounds or rupees are not the main focus. But love is. What denominations does that come in? Maybe just S,M, L, & XL? At Jesus’ last Passover on earth, he gave His own famous new commandment, He owned it as “My Commandment”, that we love one another as he has loved us – big love, beyond our capacity, beyond Powerball’s biggest wins, but we can start with smaller denominations and practice with just kind thoughts and gentle responses to harsh words – we can think ahead about simple ideas we might use to brighten someone’s day. We can communicate care with a quick phone call or email remembering something positive about a recent conversation with a friend or family member. Establish plans to be a conduit of God’s love. For example, cultivate the habit of making eye contact and smiling at anyone you meet or who waits on you in a store or restaurant. Keep a wad of single$ and five$ handy so when the Holy Spirit presents an opportunity to bless someone in that simple way, you’re ready – and don’t forget to add yet another meeting of eyes, and another smile. Spend on!
