Thessalonians 5:18 In Everything Give Thanks…

Thessalonians 5:18 In everything give thanks for this is the will of God for you.

Yes, this passage might be considered a bit ahead of the calendar; but Thanksgiving is far more than a day, a holiday even, not even a whole weekend or season. It is for a life. Thomas Merton, the monk, writer, theologian, mystic, poet, social activist and scholar tells us “To be grateful is to recognize the Love of God in everything He has given us.” A life characterized by an attitude of gratitude is a life well lived. We thank God in – not for – all things. But even the darkest and roughest threads in the tapestry of our lives will be folded into God’s completed work with us. Let’s start today and persist, year round.
